How to Begin to Own Your Creative Power

We are ALL creative beings… infinitely expressing our thoughts, words, and actions that create the reality we exist in right now.  Regardless, if we are conscious of it or not, we are solely responsible for where we find ourselves today. Our lives are but a reflection of the collection and manifestation of ALL the choices that we’ve made throughout our entire lives.

Believe me, I have a hard time with this too. I mean, what about the people and circumstances in my life, aren’t they responsible for any part of this experience? My truth that I have come to understand is no, they aren’t. Every decision I make and continue to make perpetuates my experience regardless if I like it or not. I always have a choice, to continue creating with the same people and/or change my circumstances. It’s a fact. However, this doesn’t make changing our lives any easier.

So let’s start at the beginning. Let’s begin with thought.

Thought is the inception of creation. It is where we always begin to create our reality. It is an invisible vibration we send into the world always asking to become a reality. Whatever we think about most will become a reality, whether we want it or not. This why being a conscious creator and thinker is vital to bring our dreams and desires into the physical realm.

It is said that the average person has anywhere from 70,000 – 90,000 thoughts per day and more than 80% of those are recycled thoughts. We basically continue to think the same things, say the same things, and act the same way… which continues to create and create and create.

Here’s the thing… the majority of us operate in the subconscious mind, about 95% of our lives. We would be literally blobs on the floor if we didn’t have that part of our brain to command our limbs to move or remind us how to use the bathroom. It is where we store and retrieve data and it is an unquestioning servant working 24 hours a day to recreate thoughts, behaviors, beliefs, and habits that continually create our experiences. It is a collection of our traumas, fears, insecurities, previous experiences, memories, and skills. It’s a super computer that has memorized all your comfort zones and works to keep you in them. By guiding you to respond exactly the way you were programmed to do, the subconscious mind LOVES predictability. This is why it can be challenging to change our behaviors or habits.

This is exactly why so many of us are stuck and may feel low often, because we are not changing the fundamental pillar that creates our lives… our thoughts.

The follow 5 steps are what I implement and have learned in my journey to stop my unconscious creating and move from a space of conscious and intentional creation.

  1.  The first step is always awareness:

When we become aware that we are constantly creating our reality and projecting our perspectives into the very world we live in, many of us will be guided to step into our power and change our lives one thought at time. I truly believe you must own this truth.

YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LIFE. RIGHT NOW.

What do you think about when you're brushing your teeth, taking a shower, or doing household chores? Find a time daily where you tune into your thoughts and see what is going on! Then... 

  1. Connect with and visit often the most AWESOME version of you (that already exists).

If you can dream it, you can create it.

Who do you want to be? What feelings do you wish to embody? What ARE the dreams and desires in this life that you wish to create? What makes your heart sing and gets you into that flow state?

Write this stuff down! When you think, speak, and act from a state of connection to your highest self, you begin to make choices that are in alignment with this frequency.

It is easy to get stuck on the discrepancy between where we are now and where we really wish to be. This “gap” is easy to obsess about and keeps us in our comfort zone and makes us feel overwhelmed. We can easily get sucked back into focusing on the aspects of our life that don’t align with the version we want to create. It’s vital to understand (again) that where our focus goes, grows! This is exactly where we are where we are! We must shift our focus and make decisions that create a new reality. 

  1. Commit to a meditation and/or breathing practice

Meditation and breath work are extremely powerful tools for us to use right now to begin to unravel the habitual thinking that we’ve created over the course of our lives. We must be with ourselves by ourselves regularly. How can we get to know who we are on a conscious level if we aren’t willing to explore our mind?

There will ALWAYS be excuses why you can’t do this. I spent years procrastinating and needing something to happen or the right circumstances to allow my meditation practice to begin. I finally was SO tired of feeling stuck, depressed, and overwhelmed that I forced myself to sit, shut the fuck up, and just be with myself. It’s a powerful experience getting to know your mind and heart. 

The best insight I can give is when we begin to explore the mind we may discover darkness or shadows. That which what we believe is darkness within us, is actually just a lack of light and understanding. When we shine the light on the things in our mind we are most fearful of, we discover with compassion that believing these illusions is what got us here in the first place.

Meditation and prayer are the ideal practices to reconnect with your highest self and ask for support from your higher power (whatever you may call that… God, Universe, Source, Creator, Allah, etc.).

  1. Begin to consciously choose what you WANT in your life!

We always live right now. The eternal moment is where life happens and if we pay attention we will begin to see messages and synchronicities available to us. They will  lead us to create exactly the life we want.

WE MUST PAY ATTENTION!!!

When we live unconsciously in the past or future we miss all the magic and signs on what we are called to do! We miss it! This is why training our mind is paramount!

When we have connected to our highest self, we naturally begin to make choices that align with that shift and propel us into that part of us that embodies everything we want. It all happens so organically and so fucking magically.

  1. Be diligent and patient.

We are here to evolve, learn, and uplift the collective consciousness. It took us decades to be where we are right now… change is always occurring and when we tap into our creative nature, we will begin to see small, subtle, and encouraging shifts take place in our lives. This will encourage us to keep going. Keep showing up. Keep connecting and creating consciously. It just takes the first step and faith that you are going exactly where you are meant to be! Don’t give up… just keep showing up right here, right now.

As many of us spend more time in isolation and in a new state of reality created by the world consciousness around us, we may think that we have no power or authority to create something new in our lives. We get sucked into the fear and insecurity that is perpetuated by our society. We forget about the magical creative beings we are. Choose to lift yourself up and be the change in your life you are longing for so deeply. Start now.

As you can see, I am passionate about my growth as a human being. My journey has been long and at times painful to unravel parts of myself that aren’t in alignment with who I wish to become. The thing is, it’s a journey! There is no destination. It’s all about consistent daily baby steps that lead us to HUGE changes... in a blink of an eye.

I’m no expert… I’m a woman who has been on my own mission the last 10 years to find the meaning of life, to live in a state of peace and presence (regardless of what surrounds me), and to consciously create my deep desires and dreams. Most importantly I wish to raise conscious and kind children who will raise the collective consciousness of our world for generations to come.
