Check out episode 94 of The Hippie Moms Podcast where I dive deeper into this beautiful, empowering, and simple life strategy!

I unrolled my mat in the back of the class.

Life was hard at this moment.

I was so stressed out and my body was screaming at me to listen.

My lower back ached and my gut felt insanely gurgly.

I knew I needed something so I headed straight to a yoga class led by my favorite instructor, Harmony.

I loved taking her classes.

Not only did she lead the most amazing, challenging, and sweaty classes, but the wisdom and insight she dropped always hit home with me.

It was like she was speaking directly to me and today, I needed something to help me break free from myself.

I felt tired of life and of all of its responsibilities.

This was even before kids and before I embarked on the most difficult and wonderful journey I'd ever experience, called motherhood.

I thank God for the wisdom he spoke to me through her that day.

I still use it every day of my life.

She had us start in child pose and focus on our breath.

I could feel my whole body melt into the mat.

I'm so glad I came, I thought to myself.

I never regretted practicing yoga.

It has always been such a healing practice for me.

It truly was the catalyst that broke me open, introduced me to my body, and launched me into the spiritual world that I craved.

A world away from mainstream religions that have been tainted by men for centuries.

Harmony began with leading us through some simple movements, and as she held us in a forward fold, the words that came out of her mouth were the ones that changed my life forever.

She talked about all the responsibilities we have in our lives.

How it's part of the human experience.

She said that the way we use language creates energy behind our words.

I didn't get it then, but I do now.

It is so powerful, yet so subtle, that most of us miss the mark and the opportunity to shift slightly into creating from more powerful place.

She asked us to think about all the things we have to do.

We have to get up out of bed, take a shower, brush our teeth, drink our coffee, go to work, go to the gym, the grocery store, make dinner, watch our favorite shows, brush our teeth and go to bed.

We have all these things to do.

All these responsibilities that we have to do to keep our lives moving forward, and sometimes... maybe most of the time, we lose sight of the most precious things waiting for us to recognize.

Are you ready for your world to be rocked... or maybe just influenced a bit?

Harmony paused and said with such authority and power...

"WE GET TO DO ALL THESE THINGS."

My mind was blown... and so were the other's yogis' minds in the class.

Instead of saying that we HAVE to do something, simply changing "I have to" to "I get to" shifts our energetic frequency to a higher vibration.

Can you feel it?

I have to wake up in the morning vs. I get to wake up in the morning.

I have to make my kids lunch vs. I get to make my kids lunch.

I have to exercise and eat healthy food vs. I get to exercise and eat healthy food.

I have to clean up after myself and my family vs. I get to clean up after myself and my family.

How much different do these statements feel?

Using the word "have" feels similar to a victim mentality, yet when we use the word "get" it feels more powerful and embodies an attitude of gratitude.

I remind myself daily of this powerful language swap, and it helps me shift back into gratitude from the place of overwhelm and feeling like a victim.

The fact is, we choose ALL of our responsibilities.

I choose to get married, have kids, a home, dogs, cars, and all the things.

I chose daily to nourish, take care of, clean up after, and love ALL of them.

Is it hard and overwhelming sometimes, FUCK YES IT IS!

But we get to do all of it.

We get to be in the human condition and we get to break free from the cage we lock ourselves in...

Because only we hold the key.

It's easy to see that when we shift from using the word "have" to "get" in the way we approach our responsibilities we remind ourselves of the sacredness of life.

We are not promised one more day.

Our loved ones are not promised one more day.

So sinking into the present moment, by reminding ourselves how we approach all the tasks we have at hand, lands us in a place of higher vibration.

I'm not sure about you, but I want to always be moving towards a higher vibration.

If you do too, simply use what I'm sharing with you today.

Use it when you speak to yourself and others.

Just feel how that simple shift brings you into a better feeling about the things you are going to get to do anyway.

I hope this inspires you as much as it did me.

Thank you, Harmony (Even though I know she's not reading this!) :)

In love and light,
